Points Trail Information

We are an organization run by volunteers who’ve dedicated themselves to building the NYTBF to provide additional angling opportunities for bass fisherman across NY state. Except for Team Opens, annual membership is required for participation in our events. All boats in our events must meet the minimum requirements as outlined in our tournament rules. Boaters will also be required to provide proof of a minimum of $300,000 liability insurance.

Registration Dates:
Tournament registration forms and entry fees are due by midnight of the Tuesday before each tournament (except Team Opens which are payable at the ramp). Entry Fees do not include lunker. Lunker pool is paid at the ramp.

Points Tournaments
Boater Entry Fee: $150(+$6 Paypal fee) and Co-Angler Entry Fee: $100 (+$4 Paypal fee).
Each compete within their own category for prize money and the Lunker/Big Bass award.
There is an optional lunker pool for both boaters and co-anglers payable the morning of the tourney.

If we have more Co-Anglers than Boaters sign up for an event then priority entry goes to the Co-Angler with the earliest paid entry fee, and all others will receive priority entry into the next point event or receive a refund upon request.

Pairings and boat order are done by random draw and will be determined after entries have closed and will be made know to participants via email.

Angler of the Year
At eligible tournaments, all anglers compete for points to see who’ll win the coveted NYTBF Angler of the Year (AOY) title in their respective category. Points are awarded on a one (1) point decreasing scale, 1st place =100, 2nd place =99, 3rd place =98 and so on. AOY will be determined at the end of the regular season. The Boater and Co-Angler AOY winners earn automatic berths onto the NYTBF Semi-Final Team. In addition they also receive the following year’s NYTBF membership dues and points tournament entry fees paid in full.

As of the 2023 season, the AOY will be determined by the finish in the 3 points tournaments for the year.

State Championship Qualification
In order to fish the State Championship, an angler must fish at least 2 Points tournaments. Further, the angler must be a current member of the NYTBF.

There is a Military Exemption available so our fighting force can fish the End of Season Two-Day State Championship. Read Tournament Rules for complete details

Semi-Final Team Selection
The remaining slots on the NYTBF Semi-Final Team will be determined at the annual Two-Day State Championship Tournament with anglers chosen in the order of their finish. The number of boaters and co-anglers is dependent on the number of eligible NYTBF positions at the Semi-Final. The better our participation in NYTBF Federation events, the more we can send to the Semi-Final.

Full team selection criteria is listed in the Tournament Rules.

NonProfit Status
Starting in 2017, the NYTBF is a non-profit organization. Money winners will be receiving a 1099 income form at the end of the year. As such, anglers will be required to submit a W-9 prior to receiving their winnings.
